Ahh Life
Posted by Peter

I can not believe it, but the Bears are in the Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has been a fun few weeks being a huge Chicago Bears fan trapped in Indianapolis. All of my roommates and a lot of my friends are bears fans, but the rest of everyone I know are Colts fans, so we have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. I can not wait until February 4th so we can settle all disputes once and for all. However, until then I will and have had a lot going on. School and soccer are in full swing keeping me very busy. Also, intramural basketball started today and it was just our luck that we had to play the best team in the league in the first game. Needless to say we came out on the losing end, but we had some bright spots and I feel confident about or team. Other than that one of my good friends came into town this weekend to see all of my friends and me, she is leaving for a semester abroad in Australia. I've been to Ausralia before and it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, she is very excited and I know she is going to have a blast.  I do not think I can ever stress enough how life changing studying abroad can be. I hope that all prospective students really take the opportunity to at least look into studying abroad. Many people look at it as a very scary task, but once all the paper work is done and you are on your way, it really is a once in a life time experience. There are a lot of great event on the horizon in my life, the Super Bowl, the IUPUI hall of fame banquet in which a former soccer player and two Kelley Alum's are being inducted, the 2007 Job Fair, and many other fun and exciting events are all coming up. Hopefully when I come back in a few weeks I will be writing about a victorious Chicago Bear Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!!

Go Colts!

Indianapolis, we are going to the Superbowl!!!!!!

Is everybody bumped up because of the awesome victory of the Colts vs. the Patriots! Needless to say anything else my weekend was GREAT. I hanged out too much and did not spend enough time working on homework as I should have. Man! I really have to learn that I must do homework over the weekends; otherwise I will be in the same situation as I was last semester (freaking out the last few weeks of class, that is). Saturday, I was in school for a few hours, but not doing homework...lol. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to work out a little more, so I have been going daily to the gym at school since spring classes started. It is pretty convenient to have the gym on campus—if you are there (IUPUI) all day you might as well use it. I also swim, so is even more convenient- I lift some weights and then off to the pool for some laps.

Anyway Saturday was good, besides working out we went to the symphony and then for dinner and desert. Downtown was packed with all the Colts fans AND there was a cheerleader convention going on too (Unless girls like to go out dressed up with uniforms and paint their faces exaggeratedly on Saturday night nowadays, I am pretty sure it was a convention).

Sunday was football day- since the games did not start until 3:00 pm (Bears vs. Saints) I pretended to do some homework in the morning. Then my favorite person in the whole world came to visit, that is my godson Caden. He is barely three months old and he is awesome, he loves football and we have a blast every time he comes to visit!

Well, keep enjoying your semester and one word of advice (as usual): when you are watching your favorite sports team play, say the Colts, and you like to jump up and down like a kangaroo make sure that the ceiling is not too close—if you hit your head it can be painful!

Keep it simple,

Jaime

2007

Classes got underway last week and it proved to be the first time I realized it was really 2007. I took out my notebook and wrote down the date then I looked at what I wrote and realized I had put 1/9/2006. I laughed to my self and it hit me this is the last year I will be in school. I still have two semesters, but it is amazing that this is the beginning of the end. It is fun to look back to when I entered high school and remember I was like ok I will be 16 in the year 2000, I'll graduate in 2003, then came college and I was like ok I'll be legal to go to the bars is 2005, and  I'll graduate in 2007. What do I count down for now?

I was very excited over break when my grades for last semester finally came in and I earned a 4.0. It was the first time I've done that in college and it brought my GPA above a 3.5. Thus far my classes seem very interesting. I'm taking J401 basically one of the last classes any Kelley school student will take. It was said to be very "scary", but I really enjoy it ,the teacher is fun and he presents the material in a way that makes it easy to understand.  Other than that I'm taking three other classes that I really enjoy too. It seems like it is going to be a busy semester with school and soccer, but I really enjoy it all so it makes it fun.

Soccer is underway again for me. In the winter we concentrate on team fitness and we get to play indoor once a week on our own. Also, we do some ball skills twice a week with the coaches. It is a fun time of the year because we get a little more time to our selves and we do not have the pressures of games and practices all the time. However, come the first week of March we have our spring season and it is all work again.

Finally, the intern job fair is coming up in February. I am really looking forward to finding a fun internship for this summer. I am not sure what I want to look into yet, but I plan on talking with a lot of companies and seeing what I can come up with.
