National Association of Women MBAs Student Organization

 

The National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) is dedicated to creating a more diversified workforce by advancing more women into leadership positions within corporate America. NAWMBA offers women a platform for success based on four fundamentals: Education, Professional Development, Networking and Community Collaboration.

Membership
Membership is open to all students in the MBA program at the Kelley School of Business as well as other MBA students in Indianapolis. Email nawmba@iupui.edu for current calendar of events.

Opportunities
NAWMBA strives to offer a diverse selection of growth opportunities for its members. All functions are created with a focus on NAWMBAs four fundamentals.
Education: Career opportunities and skill set workshops are provided to members through a variety of channels.

• Webinars- NAWMBA offers members workshops on a variety of professional topics.
• Newsletter- Articles on leadership, diversity, and career management are published monthly to keep NAWMBA members aware of current news.
• Magazine- Women MBA and Women of Color are bi-annual magazines full of articles that offer profiles of leading women in industry along with leadership insight.
• Scholarships- in 2009, NAWMBA will begin to offer scholarships to help boost the enrollment and success of women in MBA programs across the country in an effort to better diversify corporate America.

Professional Development: NAWMBA is committed to providing development opportunities for women in all stages of their career.

• Career Management- NAWMBA offers women the tools necessary to manage professional growth through the online Resume and Career Center.
• National Conference and Career Fair- The annual conference is a three-day event that embodies all areas of NAWMBA’s mission and is dedicated to supporting and developing both student and professional women. The conference promotes professional and personal development through leadership meetings, workshops, industry panels, a case competition, and coaching sessions.
• Local Events- The Kelley School of Business chapter offers industry panel discussions, professional development workshops, and personal contact with the Women MBA Alumnae.

Networking: NAWMBA recognizes the importance of creating a network of professionals as a resource for career management by offering members local and national events to connect with leading women in industry.

• Socials- Students are invited to local events in order to connect with faculty, alumnae, and fellow students in an informal setting.
• National Conference and Career Fair- During this three-day event, members meet professional women from across the nation along with industry leaders and recruiters.

Collaboration: NAWMBA facilitates the interaction between graduate business school programs in an effort to further encourage a diverse workforce by preparing women for leadership roles.

• Main Street Institute- A local collaboration between the Kelley School of Business and the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. Monthly workshops are held at the Kelley School of Business which feature faculty speakers on a variety of topics impacting local business leaders. These functions not only provide continuing education to local business leaders but also showcase the talent of the Kelley school faculty and offer valuable networking opportunities.
