Apply for the Graduate Certificate in Medical Management.

Both clinical and healthcare business professionals are invited to apply for this program. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years work experience to be considered for admission. Typically, an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better qualifies for admission into the program. There is no admission test required.

New student cohorts form each quarter. Below are application deadlines.

  • February 14 for Spring 2021 start
  • May 15 for Summer 2021 start
  • August 16 for Fall 2021 start
  • November 1 for Winter 2021 start

Consider the following when writing your essay, which should be no more than 500 words or the equivalent of two double-spaced pages.

  • Describe your day-to-day work at your current job. (Remember, we have your résumé.)
  • What are your short-term (2-3 years) and long-term (3+ years) goals? Goals could include: Gain a promotion, land a job in a new organization or change function. It’s fine if you don’t know what your goals are, but you should note that you would like to use our program to explore your goals.
  • How does the Graduate Certificate in Medical Management relate to your career goals?
  • What unique perspective can you bring to classroom discussion?

If you have previously attended Indiana University on any campus, you do not need to request transcripts, but please let us know via email that we need to obtain these transcripts for you.

We request one letter of recommendation from a professional who is able to comment on how the Graduate Certificate in Medical Management will help your career.

The Graduate Certificate in Medical Management is affordable and competitive, especially compared to healthcare management master's degrees.

  • Tuition is $700 per credit hour or $10,500 for the 15-credit program.
  • University fees are estimated at $275 for 3 credits per quarter.
  • Textbooks, parking, learning materials and course-specific fees are not included in these numbers.

Financial Aid

Many students receive tuition assistance through their organizations or capitalize on the federal student loan program. For more information on this program, domestic students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and contact the Office of the Bursar. When filing the FAFSA, use IUPUI’s school code: 001813.

Graduate Certificate Tuition Fellowships

The Kelley School of Business offers a limited number of partial tuition fellowships. All admitted Graduate Certificate in Medical Management students are invited to apply for the Kelley School Fellowship, and applicants are reviewed for consideration regardless of financial need. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and applicants are notified of the decision within two to four weeks of receipt of the application.

  • Career achievements
  • Application strength
  • Geographic location
  • Organizational affiliations

Continuing Education Credits

You may earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Education Units (CEU) through courses in this program. CME credits are administered through the Indiana University School of Medicine Division of Continuing Medical Education. If your organization sponsors CME activities, you can use these resources to help pay for the medical management graduate certificate. Additionally, tax benefits can apply; talk with your tax professional.
