How to Apply
Business of Medicine MBA applications are accepted on a rolling basis. You may submit individual documents to our office as they become available. A structured interview will be scheduled once your application is complete.
The next cohort starts in Fall Quarter 2016 (September 2016). Applications are due by July 1, 2016. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed as they are received.
1.) Prepare and Submit a Personal Statement
Your statement should address two questions:
- What are your professional objectives?
- How do you expect the Business of Medicine MBA degree to contribute to your professional objectives?
Please limit your personal statement to 500 words (the equivalent of one page, single-spaced, with 12-point font). You will upload your personal statement through the Application Tab on the online application or you may email it directly to .

You should print these step-by-step instructions (PDF). This document will guide you through the online application.
There are five tabs on the online application that you must complete in the following order: Personal Information, Additional Information, Applicant Information, Department Information, and Submit. Completing the application should take you 20 minutes; however, you have the ability to save your application and come back to it if needed. Please note, failure to complete the application in the correct order will likely result in spending additional time troubleshooting potential errors with your application.
On the Department Information tab be prepared to upload your personal statement and curriculum vitae/résumé, in addition to linking to and answering the Department Questions. Alternatively, you may e-mail your curriculum vitae/résumé and personal statement directly to after you submit your application.
4.) Submit your Recommendations
When answering the Department Questions you will be asked to provide recommenders who can highlight your capabilities for this academic program of study.
We will contact to your recommender on your behalf via email and request that they complete a confidential online recommendation form. We will send them a link to the recommendation form after you after you submit your online application.
Please complete the FERPA agreement in the Department Questions section of the online application. This allows us to notify your recommender of your ability to view their recommendations if you are admitted to the program.
5.) Request your Official Medical School Transcript
Applicants who are U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents who have received an MD or DO from a U.S. institution are required to submit their official medical school transcript only; transcripts for other degrees granted (e.g. BS, BA, MS) and could be requested during the application review process. For those applicants who are not U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents, or whose education was obtained outside of the U.S., official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended must be sent directly from the granting institution to the address below. Applicants who previously attended Indiana University do not need to request transcripts from any Indiana University campus. Electronic transcripts are preferred if they are available from your school.

6.) Complete an Admissions Interview
Once all required application documents have been received, an interview will be scheduled by the Business of Medicine Office no more than 5 days after all required application documents have been received. The interview typically takes 30-45 minutes to complete and is conducted via phone.
Completed applications are reviewed and admission decisions are generally made within two to three weeks after completion of your application and interview. You will be notified of a decision via postal mail and e-mail.
